Welcome to the TR GO for GOLD Suncare category award feature

On behalf of the TR GO for GOLD awards team, we would like to thank you in advance of submitting your award entry for the fashion category. We fully appreciate the time and effort that goes into creating a successful awards entry, and that is why we have made the TR GO for GOLD awards value added in terms of; being able to use your entry as a marketing document, for benchmarking purposes, for recognition of excellence and best practice and of course business growth.

You probably know by now that these awards are split into product categories and there is an award 'Above and Beyond' which recognises those who work tirelessly to ensure the success of the products sold within Travel Retail.

To build industry confidence in the TR GO for GOLD awards we recruited TR industry and category experts to work with us to create our "Guides to Gold', (an invaluable document for all entries) the judging criteria and of course, actually judging the entries. It was an honour when Carolyn Mariani agreed to join our esteemed team of experts.


All About TR Suncare

Suncare in Travel Retail provides an excellent opportunity for add-on and impulse purchases in airport stores, cruise ships and inflight programmes, as it is likely the most forgotten item when packing for a holiday. The convenience of finding quality Suncare products prior to arrival at your sun destination is a great opportunity to increase spend and enhance revenue.

This Category has expanded tremendously over the past few years and now has an ever-increasing range of SPF, age, gender, and activity specific product choices. Then there are self-tanning products and aftersun lotions and gels. Travel Retail Consumers may be led by their demographic or by a brand that they know and trust.

Technology has also played its part in the development of this category. By introducing anti-aging and intensive moisturising ingredients.

The travelling consumer is very aware of the dangers surrounding excessive sun exposure and are wearing products with SPF every day. So, promoting the skincare properties of their Suncare products is an essential feature and benefit.

Carolyn is delighted to have been invited to participate as a judge in this year’s Travel Retail Go for Gold awards. She is an intrepreneur at heart and after many years of buying all product categories to create comprehensive product ranges for some of the world’s best inflight duty free programs, this opportunity just felt like ‘home’. She is a huge fan of innovation, design, and quality, and looks forward to applying her experience in bringing products to the market that resonate with consumers and optimize revenue.
